Couldn't remember when was my last entry, probably I'm still in shock.
Yes. Sister gave me a shock yesterday.
We were being orientated to our assigned discipline yesterday. She handed each of us a file with all the checklists and guidelines to us. Half way through the orientation, I found out that I didn't have an important page and sister went to get me a copy.
Just when sister's shadow appeared in the far end of central corridor, I could hear her voice loud and clear:
"Valerie, just now I walked pass theatre 15, you go and scrub for the Inguinal Hernia NOW!"
Was my ears stucked with ear wax?? Did I hear wrongly? For the first time I wish Valerie wasn't my name.
Culture shock to me....
Who would anticipate that during the midst of orientation you have to scrub up for the 2nd time and be the FIRST to be assessed by discipline sister?!?!
No choice, die die have to do it.
When I stepped into the theatre, I realized the one who double scrubbed with me was my preceptor. For godness sake, no wonder sister would ask me to go on field la.....!!
God blessed that my surgeon was very patient and my preceptor was excellent in teaching. She was like a surgeon assistant, standing at the opposite site to instruct me which instrument to pass the next.
So much experience required and I knew that I could never be like her unless I learn through experience.
And I want to be outstanding. Therefore a lots of hardwork should be done.
After the operation, preceptor briefed me.
In GS Colorectal, speed is their main principle. I am expected to be FAST, SHARP and ACCURATE.
Ya. I clearly understand that the path which I'm leading would be extremely tough and full of obstacle.
I hope I can overcome them.
Totally engrossed,
